Ahead of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League, the eight teams engaged in a day-long tussle to fill their squads during the IPL 2021 auction, picking from a list of 292 players that were shortlisted: here’s the complete list of sold players.After the IPL retentions last month, teams released quite a few players, clearing up room for new players to be picked in the auction. It was a ‘mini auction’ by definition, but there was no dearth of action throughout the day, as teams furiously outbid each other to claim their player of choice. At the end, it was South Africa’s Chris Morris who broke the box office, registering a bumper sum of INR 16.25 crore, the most any team has spent on a player in the history of the IPL auction.

Chris Morris became the most expensive player in the history of the IPL today, and in doing so, raised more than a few eyebrows.
Morris was sold for Rs 16.25 crore to Rajasthan Royals, a figure worth approximately £1.61 million. The fee was marginally higher than the Rs 16 crore Yuvraj Singh received in 2016, making it an IPL record. The previous record for the most expensive overseas player was held by Pat Cummins, for whom KKR bid Rs 15.5 crore in 2020.

Rohit Sharma Welcomes New Mumbai Indians Players To ” Mumbai Indians ”
IPL 2021: Rohit Sharma took to Instagram in order to welcome the seven players picked by Mumbai Indians, in the player auction on Thursday. The MI skipper took to social media platform Instagram, in order to post a video which showed the players with the franchise anthem playing in the background. “Welcome to the city of heroics!
. New Zealand fast-bowler Adam Milne was the first purchase by the Mumbai-based franchise. Milne was signed for a sum of Rs 3.2 crore, joining Trent Boult.
Nathan Coulter-Nile who was released by the franchise ahead of the player auction, made a return to the MI squad. Coulter-Nile was added to the squad for a sum of Rs 5 crore.
The defending champions followed these additions up with the purchase of leg-spinner Piyush Chawla. The 32-year-old was signed for Rs 3.2 crore.
New Zealand cricketer James Neesham joined Milne and Boult at his base price of Rs 50 lakhs. The all-rounder represented Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in IPL 2020.
All-rounder Yudhvir Charak who was one of the support players in the squad for IPL 2020, was the next signing at his base price of Rs 20 lakhs.
South African left-arm pacer Marco Jansen and Arjun Tendulkar were the final two additions to the squad. Both the players were signed by MI for a sum of Rs 20 lakhs.
Jansen is a left-arm pacer who is capable of chipping in with the bat. Arjun played for Mumbai in the recently concluded edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Mumbai Indians (MI) owner Akash Ambani said Arjun Tendulkar, who was picked by Mumbai in the IPL 2021 auction should be allowed to progress as any other young cricketer. Arjun was picked at his base price of Rs 20 lakh at Thursday’s auction.
