IPL 2021 News: KKR’s star all-rounder Andre Russel, who emerged as the star performer for his team yesterday by bagging five wickets in just two overs, has now reacted to SRK’s ‘apology tweet’.
Defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by a close margin of 10 runs on Tuesday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Right from the start of the contest, KKR was in the driver’s seat but it seems luck takes no time to change.
Chasing an average score of 152 to win, Nitish Rana (57) and Shubman Gill (33) powered Kolkata off to a great start but as soon as they both departed things completely changed and Mumbai pulled themselves back on top. I took 7 wickets in 20 overs to restrict KKR to just 142 runs.
Seeing the displeasure and anger of fans after Kolkata’s shambolic defeat, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who is also the co-owner of the IPL franchise, himself issued an apology on Twitter.
“Disappointing performance. to say the least @KKRiders apologies to all the fans!” Shah Rukh wrote on Twitter.
KKR’s star all-rounder Andre Russel, who emerged as the star performer for his team yesterday by bagging five wickets in just two overs, has now reacted to SRK’s ‘apology tweet’.
“Yeah, I support that (Shah Rukh Khan) tweet but at the end of the day the game of cricket… you are not sure until it’s over,” Russell said in the post-match virtual press conference.
When asked to comment on Kolkata’s collapse in the final overs, Russell said he has seen many games where teams cruise in on the driver’s seat and then suddenly collapse.
“I just think it’s a game of cricket. I have played hundreds of T20 games and I have seen games where teams cruise in on the driver’s seat and then suddenly lose a few wickets, new batters come in and struggle to get away and that’s what happened tonight,” he said.
