India lost the wickets of Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja and Ajinkya Rahane in quick succession but Shardul Thakur scored a brilliant fifty post Lunch to put the visitors in control on Day 4 of the fourth Test at The Oval. Indian skipper Kohli fell to Moeen Ali while Chris Woakes dismissed Jadeja and Rahane in the first session. India were placed at 396/6 after 134 overs, leading by 295 runs with Rishabh Pant and Shardul in the middle. Yesterday, Rohit Sharma smashed his maiden overseas Test century as the visitors increased their lead in the final session on Day 3. The tourists ended Day 3 with 270 for three at Stumps, after bad light ended play. Opener Rohit was the star batsman for the visitors, slamming 127 runs off 256 deliveries consisting of 14 fours and a six. Cheteshwar Pujara also registered a half-century, hitting 61 runs off 127 balls. Meanwhile, for England’s bowling department, Ollie Robinson took the crucial wickets of Rohit and Pujara.
