Australia tour of Bangladesh: Mushfiqur Rahim forced to miss T20I series following Cricket Australia’s strict Covid demands; Report: Bangladesh’s wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim has been forced to miss the home T20I series against Australia following stringent Covid-19 protocols demanded by Cricket Australia. Bangladesh camp feels it ‘unfair’ and felt that the visitors have asked too much in terms of Covid demands.
BCB and CA had mutually decided to account for their respective bio-bubbles of their previous tours to include as a part of ten-day quarantine in Dhaka. This means that for Bangladesh-their bubble in Zimbabwe and for Australia-their bubble in West Indies should be included as a part of extended quarantine in their ongoing quarantine.
Australia tour of Bangladesh: But Rahim had to leave Harare for home after both his parents contracted Covid-19. As a result, he can’t be in the Dhaka bio-bubble now.
This has come as a major disappointment in the Bangladesh squad who feel that the denial of Rahim’s entry into the bubble is unwelcoming.
“It is unfair what happened with Mushfiq,” a member of Bangladesh’s tour party to Zimbabwe, told ESPNCricinfo. “We came in a commercial flight passing through three airports so I don’t know if it makes much sense to keep Mushfiq out of the series. He went back home from the middle of a tour for a family problem. So to not allow him to enter the quarantine after just two or three days, is not right.”
Bangladesh’s wicketkeeper-batsman had all plans to play the T20I’s against Australia but his parents’ ill-health endured a sudden change of plans.
Australia tour of Bangladesh: The BCB has requested CA to reconsider the stance on Rahim but nothing positive has prospered.
